The Two-Day Beginner Class is $800.00 per person. Unlike other beginner classes, this class is limited to a maximum of two people. You will not be part of a crowd, hoping to get some one-on-one time with your instructor. In this class you will get individual attention and have plenty of time to learn and develop the skills needed for fly fishing on your own.
This class includes fly fishing fundamentals, including casting, reading water conditions to find fish, matching the insect hatch so you can present the best imitation fly possible, making sense of fly fishing gear and tackle (what you need and when you need it), learning the best lines and leaders to use in virtually every water condition, and how to tie the knots that bring all of this together. And because of the small class size, subjects covered can be individualized based on your needs. This makes it a great class for beginners as well as anyone who hasn't gone fly fishing in a few years.
The morning of day one is filled with classroom instruction. After lunch, you will have time to practice your newly acquired skills creek-side.
The second day will begin with a refresher of day one followed by lunch and a guided trip on one of the rivers of western North Carolina. This will give you a chance to hone your skills while facing the kinds of conditions that fly fishers typically face, but this time you'll have a guide at your side teaching you every step of the way.
Equipment you'll need the days of your class: fly rod and reel, waders and boots, rain jacket (if needed) and a state fishing license. We recommend that you have your own gear, but if you need help with anything please let us know in advance. We have a limited supply and can help outfit you for the class.
You are also responsible for obtaining a North Carolina Fishing License. If you show up on the day without a valid license, one must be obtained before your instruction on the water can begin. This will reduce the amount of time we have available to instruct you on the water/catch fish. So please come prepared.
Please Note: The weather and river conditions vary from day to day. These things impact the fishing conditions. If Stream Team Anglers deems conditions to be unsafe your class will be rescheduled. We do not issue refunds due to weather/river conditions; however, we are happy to reschedule your class according to our mutual availability. You are permitted to reschedule up to twice in a year's time without forfeiting your class.
Cancellation by the customer: If you want to cancel your class for any reason, there is a 50% refund no less than 30 days prior to the scheduled class, and 25% refund no less than 15 days prior to the scheduled class. If canceled less than 15 days prior, there is no refund issued.
